Eternals was a groundbreaking film in many ways. It featured the first openly gay and deaf superhero of MCU. Eternals features Phastos (played by Brian Tyree Henry) as Marvel’s first openly homosexual superhero. He has a son with Ben, played by Haaz Seleiman. Makkari, played in MCU by Lauren Ridloff, is the first deaf hero. Due to the portrayal of gay couples in the movie, the film was banned in many countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar, Bahrain, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar.
Jolie stated that she was sorry for those audiences in a news.com.au interview. Marvel has refused to remove those scenes, which I admire.
