This Left handed Aussie Batsman is currently playing for Delhi Capitals in TATA IPL 2022. David Warner has previously played for Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad in T20 IPL. If we look at Warner’s 2022 performance his batting is buying him applause from all cricket fans across the world. In 5 matches he has put together 219 runs on the board with a strike rate of 157.55 and an average of 54.75 runs per innings.
With 25 boundaries and 9 over boundaries and a total of 219 in this season, David is preparing his way towards the Orange Cap holders list gradually. Delhi bought this Opening batsman from Australia for 6.25 Crore which is half of his previous price, 12.50 Crore. In his previous team Sunrisers Hyderabad he led the team for six matches and was replaced by Kane Williamson later.
After a fatal season in the 2021 IPL Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to bring a few changes to their team before the beginning of the TATA IPL. As a consequence, the team released its Captain and Warner told the media that he was pretty hurt about this. But it seems like Delhi is already favouring David and his performance is the much-awaited result.
Cricketer turned commentator Kevin Pietersen applauds Warner’s batting skills in his latest column to Betway.
“David Warner is another who is going really well. He’s an emotional person, and we saw that when he struggled in his last season at Sunrisers Hyderabad last year. But when you make him happy off the field he’ll reward you on the field, and that’s what’s happening at Delhi,” Pietersen quoted to Betway.
Though David has slammed half-centuries so far against Punjab, Bangalore, and Kolkata the fans are yet to get a century from this Aussie icon. Jos Buttler is currently wearing the Orange Cap with 499 runs in 8 matches after slamming 3 centuries and 2 half-centuries. This Rajasthan Royals player is the most talked about player of this season so far with a strike rate of 159.42 and an average of 71.29 runs per innings.
Though Jos is ahead of Warner with over twice the amount of runs but with a century from David Warner can bring him a lot closer to the list of top 10 batsmen of the IPL 2022 league. For specialists and fans, it is not unknown that big knocks can come from this Delhi opener anytime so we are all waiting to see a few centuries from Warner in the remainder of the TATA IPL.
Warner’s statistics are the massive proof of his excellence. Since 2009 he has played about 155 matches and scored a total of 5668 runs in the Indian Premier League. If we compare the digits of the 50s and 100s Warner bagged 53 half-centuries and only 4 centuries yet. However, in the 20-over format, it is hard to score a century but for openers, they have a lot more opportunities than the middle order batsmen. So when we look at Warner to hit a century to get near Butter he has a high odds of doing so.
